Plant Styling & Care in Belterra

Plant Styling · Belterra, Dripping Springs TX

Belterra’s plant styling & care service.

Belterra is 1,600 acres at 290 and Nutty Brown — around 2,000 homes now and roughly 3,000 at buildout, which makes it one of the biggest planned communities in the metro. Newer construction, open floor plans, and a lot of window.

I’m Will Burke, an Austin native with 25+ years working with plants. Belterra sits directly on the road I already drive between southwest Austin and Dripping Springs, so I’m out this way constantly. Every consult, delivery, and care visit is handled by me personally. Starting at $149/mo, with free replacements, always.

Local knowledge that actually matters.

Newer Hill Country builds with open plans, tall ceilings, and generous west-facing glass — bright, hot afternoon light and dry conditioned air, in a community where nearly every floor plan repeats.

Any plant I bring in that doesn’t thrive gets replaced free, for as long as I care for your space.

Belterra isn’t on a well — and that changes everything.

If you’ve read anything I’ve written about plants in Dripping Springs, you’ll have seen me go on about well water and softeners. A huge share of homes out here pull from the Trinity Aquifer, run a softener to tame water that’s some of the hardest in the region, and slowly poison their potting soil with the sodium that softener leaves behind. It’s the single most common thing killing houseplants in the Hill Country.

Belterra is the exception, and most residents have no idea. You’re served by Hays County WCID No. 1 and No. 2, which buy treated water wholesale from the West Travis County PUA — and WTCPUA treats LCRA surface water off the Colorado River. So what comes out of your tap isn’t groundwater at all. It’s the same treated surface supply the rest of the Austin area drinks.

Practically, that means two things. First, the softener-sodium problem that plagues your neighbors a few miles west mostly isn’t yours — if you’re not running a softener, don’t start one on your plants’ account. Second, you’ve inherited Austin’s problem instead: hard, chloraminated surface water that leaves that familiar white crust on the topsoil and irritates chlorine-sensitive roots over time. Different problem, different fix, and here’s how I handle it.

Then there’s the light, which is genuinely good here. Belterra’s builders put in the open plans and tall windows everyone wants now, and a lot of those windows face west into the Hill Country. Beautiful in the evening, brutal in July — that exposure will scorch a plant that was perfectly happy through April. Pair that with zoned AC pulling indoor humidity down to 20–30% all summer and you have the classic Belterra failure: crispy leaf edges on a plant that looks like it’s getting plenty of light. It is. That’s the problem. See plants for big windows and plants and Austin AC air.

One nice thing about a master-planned community: the floor plans repeat. Once I’ve worked out what thrives in a west-facing Belterra great room, that answer travels to a lot of houses. I care for indoor plants throughout Belterra and the Dripping Springs area — here’s how my residential plant care works.

Near Belterra: I bring the same service to Dripping Springs, Headwaters, Circle C Ranch, Bee Cave, and Wimberley.
