Questions & answers
The stuff people ask me most.
A few of the questions I get all the time. Do not see yours here? Just reach out — I read every message myself.
Getting started
How do I get started?
Easiest way is to reach out through the contact page or text me at (512) 829-1467. Tell me roughly where you are, how many plants you have, and what you need — styling, ongoing care, vacation watering, or a one-time rescue. I usually get back to you within a few hours with a straight answer and a price.
Do you charge for a consultation?
The first consultation is free. I come look at your space and your plants, talk through what you want, and give you an honest read on what would actually work. No pressure and no obligation to sign up for anything.
What areas do you serve?
Austin and the surrounding Hill Country — including Westlake, Tarrytown, Barton Creek, Rollingwood, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Marble Falls. If you are not sure whether you are in range, just ask.
Plant sitting & vacation care
How much does vacation plant watering cost?
Plant sitting starts at $99 a month for biweekly watering, however long you’re gone — a week, a month, a snowbird winter (and if you’re only away a week, your plants are usually fine on their own). I schedule visits to what your plants actually need rather than a fixed count, and I text you a photo after every visit. Bigger collections or lots of outdoor pots in summer, just ask and I will quote it.
What if a plant dies while in your care?
I back my work with a 30-day plant guarantee — if a plant dies under my care, I replace it. It almost never comes to that, because knowing how to water plants in Austin specifically is the whole job.
Is it always you, or do you send someone else?
It is always me. No call center, no rotating subcontractors, no stranger off an app with your house key. You are working with Will Burke directly, and I am insured.
Ongoing care & styling
Do you offer ongoing plant care?
Yes. Monthly plans start at $149/mo and scale up based on the size of your collection and how often you want me out. I handle watering, light checks, pest monitoring, pruning, and seasonal adjustments — basically everything your plants need to actually thrive in an Austin home.
Can you help me pick and style plants for my space?
That is one of my favorite parts of the job. I look at your light, your space, and your style, then choose plants that will both look right and survive your specific conditions. The wrong plant in the wrong spot is the number one reason people think they have a black thumb.
Why Austin is different
Why do I need someone who knows Austin specifically?
Because Austin is hard on houseplants in ways most generic advice ignores. Our tap water is hard and chloraminated, the AC runs dry air that breeds spider mites, summers are brutal, and the occasional hard freeze catches everyone off guard. I plan around all of it. A neighbor or a national service does not.
Can I just use my tap water on my plants?
For a lot of plants in Austin, straight tap water slowly causes problems — mineral and chloramine buildup that burns leaf tips over time, especially on sensitive plants like calatheas and prayer plants. Part of what I do is manage that. There is a full breakdown on my Austin hard water guide.
